Kentaro Miura, an artist I knew nothing about 4 days ago

My friends always told me to read Berserk. I never got around to it.
4 days ago, I got around to it.

Oh my word, this guy's artwork is stunning. I am so jealous of this man it is not even right. One day I hope to be half as talented as he is. His use of blacks is astounding and he has a great sense of drama crafted through panel layout and pacing.

So, so jealous.

Mortal Kombat

I love Mortal Kombat.
I love everything about it.
I love the over-the-top characters, the wacky powers, the wince-inducing gore, the incorrect spelling of the word "Kombat", and I REALLY love that undecipherable gibberish Raiden yells when he flies across the screen! I love Kano, I love Shinnok, I love Fujin, I love Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Who doesn't love Scorpion? Who can deny the awesome-ness of Sub-Zero's "Spine Rip" Fatality? Who can deny the awesome-ness of Fatalities in general?

Answer: No one.

John Tobias and Ed Boon were just two guys with a dream and the determination to get a game created no matter what hurdles they had to jump (the game should have died when Van Damme backed out). But they stuck with it, and stuck to their guns when Politicians wanted their game obliterated. They are an inspirational duo and Mortal Kombat is a franchise I HAVE to work on at some point in the future.

Cory Walker: The Art

I may have spoken his high praise, but now it is time to show, not tell:

Cory Walker: An Artist I Love

A lot of people draw comic books. A good bit of them draw comics well. A few draw comics really good. Some artist are so unique they defy classification. There are only a handful of those, but Cory Walker is definitely one of them. I first discovered Mr. Walker in the pages of "Invincible" and it took time to get adapted to his style. After he went MIA on Invincible after the first couple of issues, I next saw him on his blog, where he posted all kinds of crazy scribbles. Then, much to my delight, he made his inevitable return to Invincible, with a slick new style and a redesigned Omni-Man to boot! I was digging through old comics on a trip to Austin, Texas and that is when I discovered his crowning acheivement: The Destroyer, which he and Robert Kirkman made as apart of Marvel's MAX imprint. This book is flat out phenomenal. From the character design, to the page layouts to the gore, this is Walker at the top of his game.

I hope he draws some more Science Dog soon.

Joaquim Dos Santos Interview

Joaquim Dos Santos is the best director in animation right now. This man is my hero. I honestly feel he is my directing idol. The types of stuff he cranks out on a regular basis is of a quality I hope I can follow in. Everything from his camera angles, to fight choreography, to his character designs are truly incredible. The use of music and color in his work is really the best, bar none.
comicbookmovie.com did an interview of the guy over at: http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/SuperHeroTooniverse/news/?a=25045

Check it out, and stand in awe of his wisdom!
